Dr. Rochelle Walensky, former Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2021-23), will join Dr. Michael Osterholm for a wide-ranging conversation about the complex relationships between medical science, public health policy, and the political landscape of the US today. Dr. Walensky will reflect on her experiences of confronting the pandemic as a scientist, a policy leader, and the public face of the CDC in a time of domestic and geopolitical challenges. From insights gleaned along her own career and life path to inspirations for vital innovations and collaborations in the future, Dr. Walensky will share her uniquely-informed position with us. The event is a rare exploration of policies and practices, ideologies and science, and perhaps even a few thoughts on how speculative narratives like science fiction films and literature can reveal and shape responses to pandemics.
The event is open to the public with no charge for admission.
