The Center for Ethics and Public Engagement and the Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies will hold a ceremony to celebrate our connection with Future Library. Future Library is a project in Oslo, Norway that has planted a forest in 2014. Every year until 2114, renowned writers including Margaret Atwood, David Mitchell, Tsitsi Dangarembga, and Ocean Vuong contribute original writings that will be shared with the world for the first time in 2114—when the forest is harvested, transformed into books, and the project is complete. The CEPE and Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies recently purchased a certificate from the Future Library project that strengthens our ties to the ideals of intergenerational thinking and planning. Anne Beate Hovind, Chair of the Future Library Trust, will be in Decorah and take part in the ceremony. Join us to celebrate this forward thinking project.
