CELT: What is Active Learning? (K. Elliott)

One of the most successful strategies for inclusive teaching and learning is incorporating active learning moments into your classroom. Active learning is any instructional approach where students are asked to actively engage in the learning process, rather that remain passive recipients of knowledge.
This workshop will introduce the basics of active learning and briefly discuss why it is an important instructional practice that helps shrink equity gaps. We will then explore several active learning strategies with the goal of immediate implementation in the classroom.
