Luther College SAC presents Guante Nov. 8

Hip hop artist and two-time National Poetry Slam champion Guante will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in Marty's CyberCafé in the Dahl Centennial Union on the Luther College Campus.

Tickets are $5, available online at or at the Luther Ticket Office, telephone (563) 387-1357 or [email protected], open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9-10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with extended hours on Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Hailed as one of the best rappers in the Twin Cities, Guante's rhymes are not only smart, but socially and politically conscious. Guante uses his rap and poetry as a platform to discuss issues such as racism, sexism and homophobia.

In addition to his career as a performer, Guante is an educator and a writer. His works explore the places where progressive politics, magical realism, working-class identity and the power of perspective intertwine.

Guante founded the MN Activist project and the Hip Hop Against Homophobia concert series, writes a regular column at Opine Season and facilitates writing and performance workshops for youths.

The concert is sponsored by Luther's Student Activities Council Spotlight/Diversity committee.
