Fondy Food Center Administrative Assistant Position

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, donor record maintenance and will perform routine functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, and providing information to stakeholders.  The Administrative Assistant will also assist with the agency’s financial management, fundraising/development activities, programs, events, and communications.

Duke Campus Farm Field Education Manager Position

The Duke Campus Farm is a one-acre working farm, now entering its eighth season, that provides sustainably-grown produce and food systems education for Duke and its surrounding communities. Our mission is to catalyze positive change in the food system through academic engagement and through the joys and hard work of growing real food.

In collaboration with our undergraduate and graduate student farm crew, academic courses, and research, we grow and harvest for Duke’s dining halls, local restaurants, and our Community Supported Agriculture program. More important than the thousands of pounds of food that we grow, however, are the opportunities the farm provides for engaging and reimagining the ways we cultivate, access, value, and think about food.

AmeriCorps Iowa Trails Corps Crew Members and Leaders

AmeriCorps Iowa Trails Corps Crew Members and Leaders (ages 18-25) participate in on-the-job training to learn natural resources management skills and put those skills into practice enhancing, restoring and improving Iowa’s regional destination trails. This position involves physically challenging, team-oriented AmeriCorps service. The goals of this program are to conduct ecological restoration on Iowa’s multi-use recreation trails, increase community outreach, strengthen trail partnerships and improve trail natural resource health along the corridor. Service is performed exclusively outdoors and may involve camping for several days at a time. Crews complete natural resource conservation projects in partnership with public land management agencies such as Blackhawk, Clayton, Story and Webster County Conservation Boards, the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and the City of Bondurant.

Ash Grove Farm, Hampton, Iowa - Farming Assistant/Intern

We are looking for a hardworking, creative, farm assistant/employee that can help us grow
our business. We are interested in hiring a young person who wants to farm independently in the future,
but realizes the need to further develop their skills, first. We desire a working relationship with our
assistant/intern of one or more years, both to benefit us and allow us more time to positively influence
and share information with a future farmer. Our farm enterprises are corn, soybeans, small grains, hay, and
beef cattle. We are certified organic, use long-term rotations, cover crops, managed grazing, ridge tillage,
and no-till. We sell organic grain to wholesale buyers. Organic seed soybeans, oats, rye, hairy vetch and an
occasional buckwheat crop are contracted with seed companies. Hay is not sold, but fed on the farm.
Calves are sold through commodity markets or directly to other farmers for finishing.
