President Paula Carlson's 2018 State of the College Address describes transitions happening on campus, discusses the strategic plan, highlights accomplishments of the Luther College Priorities plan and gives updates on 2018 enrollment and budget.

Faculty and staff leaders invited to participate in leadership assessment

Doug Orr, from the Association of Governing Boards, will be on campus April 9-11 to meet with leaders of faculty, students, staff, the Decorah community, regents and alumni to complete the comprehensive leadership assessment. Additional sessions will be held via conference call to include regents, regent emeriti and alumni. The faculty and staff list of invitees includes more than 50 faculty and 50 staff who have been identified based on their current leadership positions. The faculty leaders include those who serve as department heads and center directors as well as members of faculty committees including Faculty Organization Committee, Faculty Interests Committee, Appointment, Tenure and Promotion Committee, and Academic Planning Committee. The staff leaders include directors, assistant and associate directors and members of the president's cabinet. The list of faculty and staff leaders invited to participate in the assessment is listed below.

Hate incident update

I want to thank those of you who attended the community gathering on the football field and in the Center for Faith and Life this evening to stand together against racism, anti-Semitism and bigotry. Thank you for your witness and for sharing your voice against hatred in all its forms.

Solidarity against racism and antisemitism

This morning, we received a report that two symbols of hate, racism and antisemitism, the letters KKK and a swastika, were stomped into the snow on the Luther football field. After Campus Safety and Security gathered photos and information, Facilities Services staff removed the imprints and the Decorah Police were notified.

In light of President Trump's action today to rescind the protections provided by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, I write to reaffirm our commitment to all of our students.
