Synchronous Online Meetings
ITS has a wealth of resources on a variety of video conferencing tools. Click the links below for specifics on your preferred video conferencing platform.
Why would I use video conferencing in my classroom?
There are many reasons why we may still use video conferencing tools in our in-person classrooms.
Google Meet and Zoom allow us to expand our classes beyond the boundaries of our classrooms. It allows us to:
- Flip our classrooms. Students are introduced to content as homework and actively practice those concepts in the classroom
- Host guest speakers from across the globe
- Keep teaching while attending academic conferences
- Schedule the occasional synchronous work day, where all students work independently on a project while on the same Zoom call. Questions can be posed to the group to the benefit of everyone
If you think you’d benefit from teaching in one of our video conferencing classrooms, please reach out to the Office of the Provost.
LinkedIn Learning Video Resources
LinkedIn Learning is an online course website offering video courses taught by industry experts in software, creative, and business skills. All faculty, staff, and students should visit linkedinlearning.luther.edu and sign in with their Norse Key username and password to access this service.
CELT has curated a selection of videos for both faculty development and for faculty to share with students for their skill acquisition. Videos cover a variety of topics from basic computer skills to Excel productivity tips.
