Luther presents LGBT+ Experiences and Identities panel on May 8

As part of the “Here’s My Story” series, Luther College will present an LGBT+ Experiences and Identities panel. This panel will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206.

This event is open to the public with no charge for admission. There will be a reception to follow in the Science Atrium of Valders.

Media coverage of LGBT+ issues usually focuses on the struggles of being queer in the modern world rather than the positive aspects of LGBT+ identity and community. In an effort to change that focus and promote openness, Panelists will share a wide range of stories highlighting topics of identity, age, occupation and more.

Joe Breitenstein, Luther associate professor of psychology, will moderate and the panel will include Sean Burke, Luther associate dean and director of faculty development and associate professor of religion; Ric Tennenbaum, Queer Campus Coalition program coordinator at Iowa Safe Schools; Luther junior Colin Cosgrove; and Luther first-year Maya Tuff.

This panel is co-sponsored by PRIDE, Counseling Services and CEPE.

A national liberal arts college with an enrollment of 2,005, Luther offers an academic curriculum that leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree in more than 60 majors and pre-professional programs. For more information about Luther visit the college’s website: http://www.luther.edu.
