Luther College celebrates Fall Community Day Sept. 9
Luther College invites alumni, parents and friends of the college to enjoy a day of food, fun, fellowship and sports at the 2017 Fall Community Day, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, in the Regents Center on the Luther campus.
The event is sponsored by Decorah Bank and Trust and Luther College.
Tickets for the picnic will also get attendees into the football game at no additional cost.
Kids can order a free “SAIL NORSE, Legacy Field 2017” game pass T-shirt as a part of the registration process. The shirt allows free admission to all regular season Norse athletic events for the 2017-18 academic year. Shirts are available while supplies last, with orders due by noon Friday, Sept. 8, and pick-up on game day at the picnic site.
Activities begin at 9 a.m. with the All-American Cross Country Invitational, held throughout lower campus. Junior high harriers begin the day’s competition at 9 a.m., followed by high school JV and varsity girls’ and boys’ teams at 9:30 a.m. Collegiate athletes compete at 11:30 a.m.
The dedication of Legacy Field in Carlson Stadium, Luther’s new top-of-the-line synthetic turf and pad system by AstroTurf, is at noon. President Paula J. Carlson, along with members of the athletics department, will speak at the dedication.
A picnic lunch catered by U-2 BBQ is 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Regents Center circle drive. The Luther Cheer Squad will hand out free Norse tattoos.
The Luther football team will kick off the home season against St. Olaf at 2 p.m. on Legacy Field at Carlson Stadium.|
