Jon Jensen and student collaborators will present the second lecture in the Paideia Texts and Issues Series, “Collaboration for the Common Good.” This presentation will highlight Luther programs in Northern Tanzania and the island of Roatan, Honduras as examples of community collaboration in study away. These are two international locations where Luther has established community-based J-Term courses as well as other opportunities for students to engage with the communities. Luther’s long-standing collaboration with the Maasai of northern Tanzania has been a J-Term course for 20 years with at least eight different faculty. In Roatan, students engage with NGOs in the community as the core of this yearly J-Term course.
Reception to follow.
