Frances Negrón-Muntaner, “Cinema as Inquiry”

April 20 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Frances Negrón-Muntaner, Julian Clarence Levy Professor in the Humanities at Columbia University, is this year’s Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar. She is a filmmaker, scholar, and founding curator of the Latino Arts and Activisms collection at Rare Book & Manuscript Library.

She will give the lecture “Cinema as Inquiry” in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall. Some films and visual arts function not just as entertainment, but as research, generating new ways of understanding the world. In a fragmented media environment, this practice has grown to be more important than ever.
