Dr. Liz Mendez-Shannon: Breaking Barriers

Dr. Mendez-Shannon is the director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Iowa.

A diversity executive, consultant, and trainer with extensive experience in higher ed and non-profit environments, Dr. Mendez-Shannon’s background in social work includes clinical interventions, community leadership roles and immigration advocacy. She earned her PhD in Social Work from the University of Iowa and received her MSW and BS in Psychology from Hunter College.
