Residence Life Welcomes Bob Palmer’s Historical Truths are Truly Stranger than Fiction
Once upon a time, Director of Campus Safety, Bob Palmer did something different than work at Luther College. From the 1980s until coming back to Luther in 2022, Bob worked as an archaeologist, a criminal investigator and as a park ranger for government agencies in both New Zealand and the United States. Over the years, he became a published historian as well as becoming a nationally recognized specialist in cultural property law and investigations, where he occasionally worked undercover cultural property cases with the FBI, and was directly involved in some of the most interesting and controversial cultural property law matters that have occurred in the United States. Through it all, one of his favorite responsibilities was introducing and training park rangers, FBI agents, Assistant US Attorneys and cultural property managers in this intriguing, complex, and extremely fascinating world where historical truths are truly stranger than fiction.
Please join the Residence Life team in the CFL Recital Hall on March 18, from 8-9 p.m. as they host, An Evening with Bob: Unusual Historical Truths. The hour-long program will set the stage for compelling stories by tracing humans out of Africa, followed by many quirky intersections of historical events from around the US and the far corners of the globe. All are welcome to attend.
