Christmas at Luther tickets go on sale to the public Oct. 27

Tickets for Luther College’s award-winning annual Christmas at Luther performance will go on sale to the general public starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Limited in-person tickets are available for performances running Dec. 3-6 in the Center for Faith and Life (CFL) Main Hall. Unlimited livestream tickets are available for the performance on Sunday, Dec. 6.

Timothy Peter, artistic director of Christmas at Luther 2026, explained that this year’s theme, “Let Us All Rejoice and Sing!” has an overarching goal that people entering the CFL will experience an evening of joy and celebration.

“The 2026 theme is a reflection of Luther College’s renowned spirit of community where all people are warmly welcomed,” Peter said. “While we recognize the holiday season can be challenging and melancholy for some, I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to gather and experience an evening of joy.”

Each year, Christmas at Luther features a different theme and music performed by hundreds of Luther student-musicians. This year’s participating ensembles are Nordic Choir, Collegiate Chorale, Cathedral Choir, Norskkor, Aurora and the Symphony Orchestra.

“The program features some of our most beloved Christmas melodies sung in a sonic ‘surround sound’ atmosphere while embracing the sense of community with ‘all’ of us — students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, family and the broader Decorah community — singing beautiful carols and hymns together which historically has been a trademark of Christmas at Luther,” Peter said.

Luther Dining Services is offering a holiday buffet featuring traditional Nordic cuisine in the Peace Dining Room, located on the second floor of the Dahl Centennial Union, prior to the Christmas at Luther performances. Tickets for the buffet may be purchased at tickets.luther.edu or by calling the ticket office at 563-387-1357.

After the in-person performances are finished, audiences still have the opportunity of on-demand viewing. The benefit of on-demand viewing is experiencing a full-length recorded version of the performance, which includes all musical selections, narrations and audience hymns, at a date and time that’s convenient during the holiday season. On-demand streaming will be available between 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, and noon on Monday, Jan. 4. Video on-demand tickets are already on sale through the Ticket Office.

Each year thousands of people attend the Christmas at Luther performances. Past concerts have been telecast across the region along with radio broadcasts on public radio stations including Minnesota and Iowa. Check the Christmas at Luther website, luther.edu/music/christmas-at-luther, for local television and radio broadcasts of the concert.
