Luther College’s Center for Sustainable Communities focuses on four aspects of sustainability. Energy and climate, food and wellness, education and outreach, and land stewardship. Our mission is to be a catalyst for sustainable change.

We envision a prosperous, equitable, and ecologically healthy world. Luther strives to bring about that world while providing unique opportunities for students. We’ll give you the skills and abilities to meet sustainability challenges.

We're On Track to Achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2030

Luther College has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by more than 72% since its baseline was established in 2003. Achieving this milestone puts the college on track to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

The Latest in Sustainability

Luther College is hosting and co-hosting a series of events during Climate Justice Week, April 17–22, 2023.

Achieving this milestone puts the college on track to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

Since the program’s inception in 2014, more than 80,000 pounds of food has been donated to local organizations to address hunger.
