First-year students move-in weekend
Luther College welcomed the class of 2024 to campus over the weekend when first-year students were able to move into their residence hall. The first-year class consists of 460 students from 26 different states and 16 different countries.
"I would like to extend a warm welcome to the class of 2024. Move-in weekend was full of excitement as new students arrived, eager to start their college journey. The campus already feels more alive and vibrant than it has in months."
The Residence Life office assigned students move-in dates and times as part of the phased process of bringing students back to campus. A low-contact check-in process was utilized and students were only allowed to have two family members enter their residence hall with them.
"It's gone really smoothly. We have a different, tiered scheduling system and I think it is working a lot better, not only to have space between people but I actually think it's gone smoother than it has in past years," said Riley Frank, resident assistant in Ylvisaker Hall.
During the month of September, first-year students will participate in face-to-face instruction on campus during their first-year seminars while other students will reside off campus and participate in online courses or internships. All students will be back on campus ahead of Thursday, Oct. 1 when Fall Quarter 1 begins.
