Media Conversion & Duplication

The Technology Help Desk can convert media related to coursework or college business, or which is consuming college storage resources. That includes digitizing VHS, audio tapes, slides, DVDs, etc.

When the media contains copyrighted content, the patron is responsible for ensuring that it is used legally. Users assume risk and liability with converting or copying media. Exceptions may be made to move media to a new format or media type for preservation efforts. Librarians can help assess whether a given use is protected by fair-use law. If an item is owned by the Library, a librarian can assist contacting the Rights Holder to determine what is permitted. If an item is owned by the user or department, they will then be responsible for contacting the Rights Holder. ITS will bypass copy protection for any reason.
