Gravity and Other Myths brings acrobatic mastery to Luther College

Australian contemporary circus ensemble Gravity and Other Myths returns to Luther College to perform “Ten Thousand Hours” at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, in the Center for Faith and Life (CFL) Main Hall.

In “Ten Thousand Hours,” eight world-class acrobats deliver a jaw-dropping love letter to the human body and the amazing things the body lets us do each day. Accompanied by a live drummer and using only minimal props and simple attire, the performance pays tribute to the deep practice behind every perfected movement — while shocking, delighting and inspiring audiences with breathtaking acrobatics.

“We’re thrilled to welcome back Gravity and Other Myths. They dazzled us with their spectacular skills in 2022, and I’m confident that we will be awed again,” said Susan Potvin, director of programming and outreach. “The performance is suitable for children as young as four years old, so buy tickets for your whole family to experience the magical moments together in real time.”

Tickets for Gravity and Other Myths may be purchased at tickets.luther.edu or at the Luther Ticket Office in the CFL. Contact the Ticket Office at tickets@luther.edu or 563-387-1357 for more information.

Discounted tickets are available for current faculty, current staff and emeriti faculty. Current Luther students are encouraged to claim their tickets, which are available to them at no additional cost through the annual Student Activity Fee. Contact the Ticket Office for more information.

Before the concert, treat yourself to dinner starting at 5 p.m. in the Peace Dining Room at the Dahl Centennial Union. The cost is $35 per person. The meal starter features a local apple and shaved Brussels sprout salad dressed with an apple cider maple vinaigrette. The main entree is roasted crispy pork belly served with whipped roasted garlic potatoes, charred carrots and sweet apple barbecue sauce. The vegan option is a roasted crispy tofu steak. Spiced bundt cake with pear compote and vanilla whipped cream is the featured dessert.

Advanced dinner reservations are required. The deadline for reservations is 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9.
