Luther College announces 2026-27 Center Stage Series schedule

Luther College has announced the 2026-27 Center Stage Series schedule with a special opportunity for season ticket subscribers. Patrons who purchase season tickets before Tuesday, Sept. 15, have the opportunity to purchase a reduced-price guaranteed ticket for a performance by the renowned a capella ensemble Cantus on Jan. 10, 2027, as part of Luther’s Dorian Vocal Festival.

Season tickets are available now at tickets.luther.edu. Individual ticket sales start Monday, Aug. 10.

“The upcoming 2026-27 Center Stage Series continues Luther’s tradition of bringing a wide variety of performances to our corner of northeast Iowa. You’ll see world-class talent without having to travel to a metropolitan area,” said Susan Potvin, director of programming and outreach at Luther.

All Center Stage Series performances are held in the Center for Faith and Life (CFL) at Luther College. The CFL houses the college’s main performance hall and hosts many of the events central to life at Luther. As part of the Center Stage Series, Luther College will host a special showcase event on April 17, 2027, to celebrate 50 years of the CFL.

“We will showcase talent from the Luther community, highlight memorable occasions from the last five decades and reflect on the CFL’s central role on the campus, within the Decorah community and for the thousands of people who enter its doors every year,” Potvin said. “The Center for Faith and Life is the heart of Luther College, and the space truly lives up to its name as a hub of memories.”

2026-27 Center Stage Series schedule

Broadway’s Next Hit Musical, 7:30 p.m., Sept. 12. Master improvisers gather audience suggestions and create a spontaneous evening of music, comedy and laughter. The audience votes for their favorite improvised song and then watches as the cast turns this song into a full-blown, improvised musical. Every show is unique and personalized to the audience.

Seraph Brass, 7:30 p.m., Oct. 30. Now in its 12th season, Seraph Brass showcases the excellence of women brass players. Winners of the American Prize in Chamber Music, the members of Seraph Brass are passionate about music education; several hold faculty positions at Shenandoah Conservatory, Texas State University and Texas Lutheran University. Known for commissioning works from underrepresented composers, Seraph Brass performs a wide range of music, including original transcriptions, newly commissioned works and core classics.

Gravity and Other Myths: 10,000 Hours, 7 p.m., Nov. 15. These virtuosic acrobats return to Decorah to deliver a jaw-dropping love letter to the human body and the amazing things the body lets us do each day. “Ten Thousand Hours,” set to a live soundtrack, pays tribute to the deep practice behind every perfected movement — while shocking, delighting and inspiring audiences with breathtaking acrobatics.

Center Stage Series Subscriber Bonus Performance: Cantus, 7 p.m., Jan. 10. As one of the nation’s premier vocal ensembles, this male a capella group is known for their seamless blend and powerful storytelling. Featuring two Luther grads, this group will also be working with high school students during the Dorian Vocal Festival. Public tickets will have limited availability beyond subscribers.

American Patchwork Quartet, 7:30 p.m., Feb. 12. These multicultural, world-class musicians blend timeless American folk songs with jazz sophistication, country twang, West African hypnotics and East Asian ornamentation. Together, they offer a living patchwork of traditions and perspectives that​ highlight​ the joys, sorrows and unwavering hope of a nation crafted by shared dreams and diverse histories.

Excelsis Percussion, 7 p.m., March 7. This international foursome speaks the universal language of rhythm. With repertoire spanning from classical to avant-garde, these skilled percussionists call upon traditional instruments and unconventional ones, like torn paper, to charm audiences with their catchy, fiery, dynamic and sometimes dreamy sound.

Grand and Glorious: An Evening Celebrating 50 Years of the Center for Faith and Life, 7:30 p.m., April 17. Celebrate 50 fantastic years of the Center for Faith and Life, a centerpiece of the Luther campus that’s welcomed so many meaningful performances and events over the past five decades. This evening will showcase talent from the Luther community, birthday cake and memories from the past.

Become a season ticket subscriber

Anyone can become a season ticket subscriber and there are several benefits available through this option. In addition to the reduced-price guaranteed ticket for the special performance on Jan. 10, 2027, season ticket subscribers receive priority seating, waive ticketing fees and receive 15% off all shows. Season subscribers have the first opportunity to renew each year. Current subscribers should respond by Sept. 15 to retain or select new seats.

Center Stage student matinees

The Center Stage Series also offers matinees for school groups and families.

School Show: The Magic School Bus – Lost in the Solar System, 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Nov. 17. When the class gets lost on the way to the planetarium, Ms. Frizzle saves the day by blasting into outer space for an epic interplanetary field trip! But when rivalries old and new threaten to tear the students apart, our young heroes must learn to pull together or risk getting forever lost in the solar system. Hop on the Magic School Bus for a ride in this new musical adaptation presented by TheaterWorks USA and based on the original book series.

School Show: The Boy Who Cried Wolf, 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., March 16. This heartwarming tale brings the Aesop fable to life with unforgettable songs and delightful characters. Join an endearing boy, his funny family, hilarious sheep, a scary wolf or two, and a village of knitters with fingers flicking, needles clicking and music rollicking! This wonderful show is sure to bring joy to young children and their families.

Center Stage Dinner Series

The Center Stage Dinner Series offers a gourmet three-course dinner before each show in the Peace Dining Room, overlooking the lower campus and the Upper Iowa River. Beer and wine are available for purchase.

Information for the dinner series can also be found at tickets.luther.edu, with menus posted two weeks before the corresponding events. Luther chefs can easily accommodate dietary restrictions when notified in advance.
