We invite you to attend the Women’s History Month keynote lecture, “Feminist Futures: WTF (Women/Trans/Femme) Solidarity in the Movement for Reproductive Justice.” Professor Natalie Fixmer-Oraiz (University of Iowa) draws on decades of experience in academic research and community organizing to explore trans liberation as essential to reproductive justice. In a moment when politicians and pundits attempt to pit cisgender women’s rights against those of trans and queer people, Professor Fixmer-Oraiz offers lessons from reproductive politics past to envision a future rooted in deep solidarity. She will draw partly from her recent co-authored book, Doing Gender Justice: Queering Reproduction, Kin, and Care, which explores how reproductive justice advocates, birth workers, and trans and gender nonconforming people craft spaces of radical affirmation and dignity for queer family formation. Sponsored by CIES.
