Luther College to host violinist Svend Rønning

With chamber music appearances around the globe, from Seattle to Sapporo, Luther College's music department is pleased to host Svend Rønning in a guest violin recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music on the Luther campus. Rønning will also give a public lecture on Scandinavian music at 9:40 a.m. Thursday Sept. 17, in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall.

Luther's Michael Chesher to perform clarinet recital

Michael Chesher, Luther College associate professor of music, and special guest clarinetist Tod Kerstetter from Kansas State University will collaborate with Luther faculty Jessica Paul, piano, and Lynne Postudensek Hart, clarinet, on a recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in Luther's Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. The program, consisting of varied works for one, two or three clarinets, bass clarinet and basset horn, is open to the public with no charge for admission.

Weston Noble Alumni Choir 2015

Weston Noble Alumni Choir presents final reunion concert at Luther

The Weston Noble Alumni Choir, with several combinations of parents and children, siblings and cousins, will gather in Decorah starting July 26 for its ninth and final reunion and concert. The choir, representing Luther classes 1949 to 2013, will meet for five days of intense rehearsals culminating in the final reunion concert that features a performance by award winning tenor Eric Cutler, Luther class of 1999.

Emily Alcock, Luther College class of 2017

Touring Vienna

Emily Alcock, Luther class of 2017, toured Vienna with the Luther College Symphony Orchestra in January 2015. Emily's mom, Sherry Alcock, Luther's executive director of Alumni Relations and Development Services, was able to meet up with the orchestra on tour as part of being named the Staff Excellence Award winner.

Messiah CD

Luther Music Department to release new live album, 'Handel's "Messiah"'

The Luther College Music Department is proud to present the newest recording of Handel's "Messiah." The album is compiled from live recordings of the performances at the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall at Luther College on March 27, and Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 29. The physical and digital format of the album are available online at,or at the Luther College Book Shop for $25.
