IIAC Outdoor Championships

Day One Results: After the first day of competition of the Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships, along with the completion on the Heptathlon, Luther is in first place posting a point total of 90 points. Wartburg is second with 59 points, followed by Central with 54.

Seven Norse captured Iowa Conference titles during the first day of competition at the outdoor championships this afternoon at Loras College.

Individual titles were claimed by Jayne Cole, Amanda Dunn and Leah Broderick. Cole won the 10,000 meters with a time of 38:43.68. Dunn won the hammer throw with a personal best distance of 153-11. Broderick was crowned the league champion of the heptathlon. Broderick's winning point total of 4,298 ranks third on Luther's all-time list.

The 4 x 800 relay of Maggie Pierson, Annie Klepper, Kayla Uphoff and Tricia Serres captured the conference title posting a new school and conference record time of 9:08.14.

All-conference honors were also claimed by Broderick, Gabrielle Murphy, Christina Storlie and Addy Rickels by placing in the top three of their respective events. Broderick was third in the javelin with a mark of 116-8; Murphy placed third in the long jump with a mark of 17-2 1/4; Christina Storlie placed third in the 10,000 clocked at 39:34.25; and Addy Rickels was second in the heptathlon with a point total of 4,080.

Day Two Results: Luther wrapped up the Iowa Conference Championships with 180 points and finished second. Wartburg College won the team title with 286 points, and Central College was third with 119.

Tricia Serres completed the weekend as a three-time conference champion. Today, Serres won both the 1500 (4:47.72) and 800 (2:15.37).

Maggie Pierson became three-time all-conference performer this weekend as well. Pierson finished second in the 1500 (4:49.28) and third in the 5,000 (18:13.89).

Jayne Cole and Gabrielle Murphy earned their second all-conference honors this weekend placing second in the 5000 (18:00.07) and third in the triple jump (36-1 1/2) respectively.

The 4 x 400 foursome of Marea Holkesvik, Anna Hennessy, Hannah Theisen and Kelsey Strand earned all-conference honors placing third (3:59.63).

Christina Storlie earned her third all-conference honor in the 3,000 Steeplechase placing second (11:26.56).
