Game One Recap: Luther did all its damage in the first two innings as it blanked host Augsburg 7-0 in Minneapolis.
In the first inning the Norse exploded for four runs. Kelsey Kittleson hit a three-run home run to right-center field, followed by a rbi double by Mallory Broderick three batters later.
The Norse scored three runs in the second frame. Kelsey Weinruch and Lauran Snyder were both credited with rbi sacrafice fly balls and Paige Comentino scored on a throwing error after starting the inning with an infield base hit to shortstop.
Kittleson, Broderick, and Comentino all tallied two hits, while Elisa Smith was 3-for-3.
Becca Girvan went the distance in the circle en route to her second win of the season. Girvan struck out 13 of the 27 batters she faced.
Morgan Franklin and Broderick were all credited with two rbi. Kittleson was 4-for-5 at the plate and scored twice.
Girvan (3-0) took over for Kelsey Rose in the circle midway through the second frame and did not allow a run in 5 1/3 innings of work.
The two victories gives #3 Luther an overall record of 4-0. The Norse will return to action in 15 days when they will begin play at the National Training Center, Clermont Fla. Luther will play 10 games in six days during its annual spring trip to Florida.
