Exploring the Rare Book Collection of Preus Library

  • Date: Tuesday, July 8, 2014
  • Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Location: Preus Library, Rare Books Room

Have you ever wondered what the Rare Book Room of Preus Library is all about? This is your chance to find out! Participants will be introduced to featured items from the collection as a way to begin conversation about books as both text and object and to consider their significance to the college, library, and curriculum. Since the rare book collection is considered a teaching collection, faculty will also have the opportunity for hands-on time with materials selected to explore their own teaching or research interests. Faculty from across the curriculum are invited to participate and to consider how the materials might be utilized as part of a classroom experience or through research instruction. Because of the size of the room and hands-on work, workshop size is limited to 10 participants. Registration deadline is one week prior to the workshop date to allow for selection of material for the hands-on experience.

Facilitator: Andi Beckendorf, Research & Instruction Librarian and Rare Book Room Coordinator

Participants will receive a $25 stipend for this workshop.
