Luther College Dance Marathon will host its fifth annual Big Event 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in the Regents Center on the Luther campus. The event includes community hours from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Community hours are open to the public with no charge for admission. During these hours, community members and families can come in for games, bouncy houses, face painting and take part in a silent auction. There will also be an opportunity to give a free will donation during this time.
LCDM is a student-run organization that raises money to support families of pediatric patients at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Participants raise money all year long through various fundraisers, the biggest of which is the Big Event. For 12 hours, participants stand on their feet to symbolize the fight that children and families have to go through. Throughout the day, Luther ensembles and dance groups will perform at various times. Miracle Families, families that have benefited from Dance Marathon, are also present to share their stories and reiterate the importance of fundraising for this cause.
