A contemporary take on this timeless show, Luther's production features live music and two casts, male and female, playfully exploring gender performance. After washing up on the unfamiliar shores of Illyria, Viola, believing her twin brother Sebastian to be lost at sea, disguises herself as a boy and enters the service of Duke Orsino. The Duke sends her to woo the Lady Olivia on his behalf, and a series of hilarious events follow involving the perplexing members of her court.

The play is directed by Robert Vrtis, Luther assistant professor of theatre. Vrtis joined the Luther faculty in 2013, teaching courses in acting and directing for the theater. He earned a bachelor's degree from Longwood University, a Master of Arts in theatre and a doctoral degree in theatre from the University of Oregon.

A national liberal arts college with an enrollment of 2,150, Luther offers an academic curriculum that leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree in more than 60 majors and pre-professional programs. For more information about Luther visit
