Peter Lingen to perform guitar recital Feb. 15

Peter Lingen, Luther College teaching associate in music, will present a guitar recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.

The program, open to the public with no charge for admission, features music from Brazil, Cuba, Paraguay and the United States, including pieces from composers Bellinati, Assad and Brouwer.

Lingen began teaching guitar at Luther in 1979 while also teaching at colleges and universities in Winona and Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has been teaching exclusively for Luther since 1990.

After studying guitar at the McPhail School of Music in downtown Minneapolis, he studied with Albert Bellson in St. Paul, and then Jeffrey Van at the University of Minnesota in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. Lingen has composed music for voice and guitar, viola and guitar, flute and guitar, piano, and string quartet.
