Luther College SAC Diversity to host Latin fiesta

Students of Luther College will host a Latin fiesta at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 in Marty's CyberCafé, located in Dahl Centennial Union on the Luther campus.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10, available at the door the night of the show or at the Luther Box Office, telephone (563) 387-1357 or boxoffice@luther.edu. The Box Office is open Monday-Friday, 9-10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; with extended hours Thursdays until 7 p.m.

Popular Latin beats will get audiences dancing and clapping when band leaders Panamanian Edgar East and Columbian Karin Stein, celebrate dance music of Latin America and the Carribean. Audiences will be dancing the Colombian cumbia, the Dominican merengue, the Brazilian samba and many more.

The group will also spend the afternoon taking attendees on "A Musican Journey Through Latin America" in a workshop held in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28. The workshop is open to the public with no charge for admission.             

The events are sponsored by the Student Activities Council Diversity committee and the Diversity Center.
