Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul to perform at Luther College Feb. 10

Grammy award winning artist Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul will perform at Luther College Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.

Tickets for the performance go on sale Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Luther College Box Office, (563) 387-1357, open 9-10:30 a.m. and 11a.m.-3 p.m. on weekdays with extended hours on Thursdays until 7 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased online at http://boxoffice.luther.edu. Tickets are $25, $23 for seniors age 65 and over and $15 for youth ages 4-18.

The performance is part of Luther's 2011-12 Center Stage Series of professional performing arts events.

Called by music critics "the future of Celtic fiddling," Ivers is known for electrifying crowds with her virtuosic and imaginative playing.

Ivers is a nine-time all-Ireland fiddle champion and original musical star of Riverdance.

She has performed with major orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra and Boston Pops Orchestra.

Ivers' has recorded more than 80 contemporary and traditional albums and numerous movie scores. She has collaborated with many famous musicians such as The Chieftains and Sting.

The daughter of Irish immigrants, Ivers has been immersed in traditional Irish music since the age of eight. Her music blends many of the genres she experienced growing up in New York including Celtic, African, Latin, rock funk and jazz.

Immigrant Soul is comprised of Tommy McDonnell, lead vocals, harmonica and percussion; Buddy Connolly, accordion, whistles and keyboard; Greg Anderson, acoustic guitar, bouzouki and backing vocals; and Leo Traversa, bass guitar. 

Ivers and Immigrant Soul have toured extensively in the U.S. and have performed at festivals worldwide.
