Jim Haemker, director of the Book Shop and Union Services at Luther College, was awarded the NACS Foundation Distinguished Service Award at CAMEX 2010 in Orlando, Fla.
Produced by the National Association of College Stores (NACS), CAMEX is the largest education and trade show event in the collegiate retailing industry.
Haemker, a Luther alumnus, has worked at the college 38 years.
As former president of the NACS Foundation and a NACS trustee, Haemker has contributed to the industry by serving on the boards of three associations, 27 committees, and four task forces, totaling 24 years of service. In each of these roles, he has shared his knowledge to help move projects forward and improve the industry, its associations and college stores.
“Jim is the perfect choice for this award. He has been involved with the foundation since its beginning in 1982, and has shown a passion for the college store industry that is inspiring to all who know him,” said Mark Palmore, NACS Foundation immediate past president, in announcing the award.
The NACS Foundation Distinguished Service Award was introduced in 2002 and is the foundation’s highest honor, recognizing devotion, service and visionary leadership to the NACS Foundation.
