Luther students receive Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship

Jan. 13, 2010

Four Luther College students have been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship, a scholarship providing help to undergraduate students with financial need to study abroad.

Luther juniors William Layton, Elsa McCargar, Alexis Meade and Keagan Meyer received scholarships ranging from $3,500 to $5,000.  Layton and Meyer will be studying in Germany, and McCargar and Meade will be studying in Argentina.

Established in 2000, the scholarship program is named after Benjamin Arthur Gillman, a congressman from New York from 1973-2003.  The scholarship provides support for students with financial need, including those of diverse backgrounds and those traveling to non-traditional study abroad destinations.
