Luther College students to perform in Spring Opera

The Luther College Music Department will present two one-act operas by Giacomo Puccini: "Sister Angelica" and "Gianni Schicchi." Thought by many to be the quintessential Italian opera composer, Puccini's penchant for writing beautiful melodies and for breathing musical life into a story are on full display in these two works.

Luther College junior Pfotenhauer receives $10,000 scholarship

Luther College junior David Pfotenhauer of Madison, Wis., received a Rossing Physics Scholarship for the 2014-15 academic year. The $10,000 scholarship is highly competitive and is awarded annually to five physics students of exceptional merit through the Thomas D. Rossing Fund for Physics Education.

Luther Center for Sustainable Communities offers gardening classes

Luther College Center for Sustainable Communities is offering a series of gardening classes to Luther faculty, staff and students, and Decorah community members. The series includes free classes that aim to provide basic information for beginning gardeners, as well as a forum for more seasoned gardeners to share information and ask questions. The classes are lead by local community members who have extensive experience in gardening.

‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari:’ Luther College Composition Students Present Silent Film Score

The classic silent film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" will spring to life with a newly composed musical score by students at Luther College. Directed by Brooke Joyce, Luther composer-in-residence and Steve Smith, Luther composition instructor, the original film will be shown with an electro-acoustic score at 9 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus.

Dance Marathon 2014

Luther raises $38,612.01 in first Dance Marathon

After a year-long commitment from more than 500 people, the Luther College Dance Marathon raised a total of $38,612.01 to send to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement involving college and high school students at more than 150 schools across the country. Students spend a year raising funds and interacting with children's hospital patients and families.
