Dr. Anoushka Divekar is a first-generation Indian-American clarinetist and educator, driven by a deep passion for music and a commitment to social justice. Her love for music was early and nurtured well, both in Hindustani music, and Western Classical Music by her family and her teachers.
Anoushka earned her DM in Clarinet Performance and Literature from the Indiana
University Jacobs School of Music with a Doctoral Minor in Music Education, her MM from
Texas Tech University, and her dual BM and BME degrees from the University of Colorado
Boulder. Her primary teachers are Professor Gábor Varga, Dr. David Shea, Professor Daniel
Silver, and Dr. Christine Bellomy.
Anoushka served as the Guest Artist in Residence for the Southeast Iowa Symphony
Orchestra in April 2025. She has appeared as a soloist at the Jacobs School of Music and
performs with distinguished ensembles such as the South Asian Symphony Orchestra, the
Colorado MahlerFest Orchestra, the virtual Dad Village Symphony Orchestra, and several
regional symphonies. Anoushka thrives as a chamber musician, having performed most   recently with Quintensity and the Novae Trio.
Anoushka is a passionate educator, teaching students as young as 18 months old, grade
school students, college learners, and adult enthusiasts. Anoushka is the creator of Clarinet
Chronicles, a groundbreaking method book featuring compositions by living and historically
marginalized musicians, designed to inspire novice clarinetists. You can find this work at

In her free time, Anoushka enjoys running, Zumba, step classes, tap dancing, jump roping
and hiking! You can find her spending time with friends and family, watching TV, and trying
new food! She and her husband also enjoy visiting new coffee shops together.
