Luther College students are invited to join the Up to Us – Luther College team for an interactive civic engagement event focused on understanding the U.S. national debt and its implications for our generation’s economic future. The event, titled “Where Does $1 Trillion Go?”, will feature four interactive sessions—Federal Budget 101, Generational Debt, Interest vs. Investment, and Student Voices—that help participants explore how national fiscal choices impact higher education, job opportunities, and long-term financial stability.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a Congressional postcard-writing activity, engage in short budget simulations, and sign the Up to Us pledge to make their voices heard on fiscal responsibility. Free pizza, snacks, and raffle prizes will be available to attendees who complete all sessions or share their experiences on social media using #UpToUs and @UpToUs_LutherCollege.
This event is part of the national Up to Us campaign, a nonpartisan initiative that empowers students across the country to build awareness and dialogue around the national debt and generational equity. Open exclusively to Luther College students, faculty, and community members.
