Illustrating Nathan Woodward’s argument that the U.S.A. is a country comprised of eleven contrasting regional nations, this talk will consider how Yankee, Tidewater, Appalachian, and Midlands ancestry came together in one rural Decorah family, and explore the 20^th– and 21^st-century implications for family members.
