Luther softball makes fourth consecutive appearance at Nationals

Whitewater Regional champions Luther College (32-9) will play Angola Regional champions Anderson University (30-16) in the opening round of the NCAA III Women's Softball Championship at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is hosting this year's championship at Carson Park, located in Eau Claire, Wis., May 17-21.

Evan Mitchell recipient of Brudos Prize in Opera Performance at Luther College

Evan Mitchell, a Luther college junior from Melcher-Dallas, Iowa, has been named the recipient of the 2013-14 Alan R. and Sally J. Brudos Prize for Opera Performance at Luther College. Mitchell will present the Brudos Family Opera Prize recital during the 2013-14 academic year.

Luther College will celebrate Commencement at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 19, in Carlson Stadium. Five hundred seventy members of the Luther class of 2013 will receive the Bachelor of Arts degree. Tickets are required for those attending the ceremony.

Luther College hosts farewell tribute to Torgersons May 16

Luther College will hold a special program titled "14 Years of Mojo from the Get-go!" in honor of President Rick and Mrs. Judy Torgerson on Thursday, May 16. The main program will be held at 8 p.m. in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life, followed by a reception at 9 p.m. in Bentdahl Commons. In the event of rain, the reception will be held in the lobby of the Dahl Centennial Union.

Richard Bernatz, Luther College professor of mathematics, had his article, "Flood Frequency Estimation by Neyman-Scott Rectangular Pulse Rainfall Model and TopModel," published in the Journal of the Iowa Academy of Sciences in Volume 118, Issue 104. The article is focused on portions of an on-going Luther project that collects and analyzes rainfall and runoff data for the Upper Iowa River.

The 28th annual Luther College Entrepreneurial Showcase was held Tuesday, March 19, in Luther College's Peace Dinning Room located in Decorah, Iowa. Since the initial program in 1986, the goal of the Entrepreneurial Showcase has been to serve as an annual forum for students, faculty, alumni and friends of Luther who are interested in and support entrepreneurship.

Luther will host the Lucille Stansberry Rosholt Distinction in Accompanying and Collaborative Keyboard Performance Scholarship recital Sunday, May 5 at 4 p.m. in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall. The competition highlights the scope and importance of the accompanist's role and is open to Luther sophomore and junior pianists who have excelled in the art of collaborative performance.
