Luther College Book Shop to celebrate 75th anniversary

Cake and refreshments served, merchandise discounts offered

The Luther College Book Shop will celebrate its 75th anniversary on Friday, April 26, at its location in the Dahl Centennial Union on the Luther campus. Cake and refreshments will be served from 9:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m.

The Decorah community is invited to come celebrate with the Book Shop staff and enter for the chance to win door prizes. Special merchandise discounts will be offered throughout the day.

A Decorah Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. with honored guests including former Book Shop employees.

In 1938 Luther's Student Canteen was enlarged to become the Luther Book Shop. Over the years, nine people served as the Book Shop manager/director including Frank Barth Sr., Joel Magelsen, Norm Pfister, Don Hatelstad, Paul Kilbert, Lynn Isaacsen, Gene Frank, Jim Haemker and current director Deanna Casterton.
