Based on the true story of Moore’s father, Gene Moore, “Playing with the Enemy” is the riveting story of a depression-era youth and his brush with destiny.Anyone interested in history, sports or overcoming hardships will enjoy Moore’s book and discussion.

Moore’s father was a farm boy from Sesser, Ill., who at the age of 15 had the Brooklyn Dodgers interested in his baseball talent. Before he could get to the Major Leagues, World War II struck and he found himself playing ball for the Navy in North Africa and Azores, Portugal.

Moore’s father and his team were eventually sent to the United States on a special mission to guard German sailors captured from U-505. Unable to field a team, Gene convinced his commander to let him teach the German sailors how to play baseball. His experience at this time in history would forever change the course of his life.

Academy Award winning producer Gerald Molen is producing the motion picture of “Playing with the Enemy.” Molen has produced or coproduced numerous cinema blockbusters including “Shindler’s List,” “Jurassic Park,” “Rain Man,” “Days of Thunder” and “Minority Report.” Moore’s son Toby will star in the film as Gene Moore.

Moore is an entrepreneur, business executive, speaker, sales trainer, musician and author. In addition to “Playing with the Enemy,” he is a contributing author for “Chicken Soup for the Father & Son Soul.”

Moore has been featured in publications including Entrepreneur Magazine, Selling Power Magazine, Sales and Marketing Management Magazine, Impromptu Magazine and Southwest Airlines’ Spirit Magazine.

In 1996, Moore was awarded the prestigious Sam Walton Leadership Award. He has appeared on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.
