Luther College sophomore Evan Obert receives Karen Julesberg Scholarship

Evan Obert, a Luther College sophomore from Genoa, Wis., has been awarded the Karen Julesberg Scholarship for the 2013-14 academic year.

Obert is a philosophy major and a member of the Norse wrestling team at Luther College. Competing at the 133-lb. weight class, he earned All-American honors with an eighth place finish at the NCAA III National Championships. He completed the year with a record of 29-10. During the wrestling season, he made the Luther College Dean's List and was named a 2013 Division III National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American.

Obert plans to attend law school following his graduation from Luther College in 2015.

The $1,000 scholarship was created by Karen Julesberg of Madison, Wis., a 1960 graduate of Luther. The scholarship benefits Luther students involved in Student Support Services, a federal TRIO program sponsored by Luther for more than 40 years. The program provides services ranging from tutoring and advising to leadership development and graduate school preparation for 160 students annually.
