Artwork by Douglas Beasley on display at Luther April 2-May 20

March 30, 2012

Photographs by Minneapolis artist Douglas Beasley will be on display April 2-May 20 in the Luther College Center for Faith and Life.

Beasley will speak in chapel Monday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. A gallery reception with the artist will be held that afternoon from 3-4:15 p.m. in the upper level of the Center for Faith and Life.

All events are open to the public with no charge for admission.

Beasley's exhibit draws on his series "Earth Meets Spirit" which explores the spiritual aspects of people and place. His photographs offer viewers a chance to witness how earth and spirit, though they exist independently, can seem to merge.

Beasley has shown his work and conducted photography workshops across the U.S. and around the world.

In 2010 he had a permanent wing of the Castile D'Albertis Cultural Museum in Genoa, Italy, devoted to his work on Sacred Places of North America.

Beasley's work is featured in numerous books including "Japan: A Nisei's First Encounter," "Feng Shui Garden Harmony," "Turn My Heart" and his most recent book "Earth Meets Spirit: A Photographic Journey Through the Sacred Landscape."

He has been featured in various photography magazines including Zoom, The Sun, B&W, PDN and PhotoVision.
