Solo dance performances choreographed by Luther's Amanda Hamp to be held at ArtHaus Sept. 10-11

Sept. 3, 2010

"Solo," an evening of solo dances choreographed by Amanda Hamp, Luther College assistant professor of dance, will take place at ArtHaus in Decorah Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10-11.

The creative research project is supported by an award from the H. George and Jutta F. Anderson Faculty Development Fund.

Performances will be held both nights at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for students and working artists. Reservations can be made through ArtHaus via telephone (563) 382-5440 or email [email protected]. Tickets are also available for purchase at the door prior to performances.

A presentation of performance excerpts and discussion of the creative process will take place in Studio II in the Center for the Arts on the Luther campus Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 8 p.m.

The dances respond to themes of memory and loss, authority and submission, mistreatment and comfort, and time. Each piece integrates the performer's own experience and imagination, diving into the personal in an effort to move into something larger.

Collaborating dancers include Hamp, Kimi Eisele from Tucson, Ariz.; Luther senior Alex Lange; Decorah native Hannah McCargar; and Luther alumna Rose Milligan.
