The Luther College Book Shop will host its third annual Peep-O-Rama Contest in April, displaying dioramas made with Peeps® brand marshmallow candies and awarding prizes to the dioramas that receive the most votes.
The event will culminate with PEEPtacular Day, Thursday, April 8, 8:45 a.m.– 4:45 p.m., featuring displays of all Peeps dioramas submitted for the contest, voting for the top dioramas from 8:45 a.m.– 3 p.m., and Book Shop specials throughout the day.
The Peep-O-Rama contest and PEEPtacular Day are open to the public with no charge for admission, and Luther invites the local community to visit the Book Shop April 8 to see the creative and entertaining Peeps dioramas.
The Book Shop will accept diorama entries March 15– April 7. Dioramas must be created using Peeps marshmallow candies, plus props and artwork, and should portray a theme, story or slogan. Last year’s top entries included “Peeps and Circumstance,” “Let My PEEP-le Go,” and “Evolution of the Peep.”
All dioramas must be submitted to the contest by 4:45 p.m. April 7 at the Book Shop, located on the main level of Dahl Centennial Union on the Luther campus. Visit the Book Shop website to view complete contest rules, a list of the prizes and pictures from last year’s event, or call (563) 387-1036 for contest information.
Prizes will be awarded to the dioramas that receive the most votes. Peeps® brand marshmallow candies, Born Again Candies, is providing some of the contest prizes. Winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m. April 8.
PEEPtacular visitors can enjoy free Peeps candies and punch and take an additional 25 percent off the purchase price of clearance items and backpacks.
First produced in 1953, Peeps marshmallow candies in a variety of shapes, including the popular bunnies and chicks, come in an array of colors. Peeps are available at most area food stores.
