From humble southern beginnings in North Carolina, Boris Rogers, aka Bluz, has quickly risen through the ranks of the spoken word entertainment industry.

He is the slam master and coach of SlamCharlotte, a competitive team of poets which he led to National Poetry Slam victories in 2007 and 2008.

Bluz was ranked 13th in the world for poetry slam after competing in Vancouver, Canada, at the Individual World Poetry Slam competition in 2008, as well as being crowned the 2008 LEAF Festival poetry slam champion.

In 2003, Bluz solidified a spot as the official host and master of ceremony for the Literary Café during CBS Radio’s marquee event “For Sisters Only,” which led him to hosting a segment on Charlotte’s number one urban radio station Power 98FM with the Morning Maddhouse morning show Spoken Word Fridays.

Bluz has been a monumental figure with institutions such as Redbull’s “Street Style” and “Say What,” the African American Cultural Center, Disney, ESPN, NASCAR and CBS Radio.

He has shared the stage with distinguished poets such as Outkast, D’Angelo, John Legend, Gill Scott, Nikki Giovanni and Del La Sol.
