City Lights Orchestra to perform at Flamingo Ball Oct. 3

The City Lights Orchestra will perform at the 2009 Luther College Flamingo Ball Saturday, Oct. 3, 9 p.m. to midnight in the Regents Center main gym.

A traditional part of the annual Luther Homecoming Weekend, Flamingo Ball’s theme this year is “Mario’s Party.” The event is sponsored by Luther’s Student Activities Council.

Flamingo Ball organizers and sponsors extend an invitation to the Decorah community to attend and enjoy listening and dancing to the music of the City Lights Orchestra’s “Big Band” style of music.

Tickets are $12, available at the Luther Box Office, telephone (563) 387-1357, and at the door the night of the ball. The Luther College Box Office is open Monday-Friday, 9-10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; extended hours Thursdays: open until 7 p.m.

A premier big band of Chicago, the City Lights Orchestra has been entertaining audiences since 1974.

Conducted by Rich Daniels, the 40-piece orchestra, including a full string section, performs for a variety of audiences including corporations, associations and charitable foundations.

The City Lights Orchestra has played with numerous entertainers, including Ray Charles, Garth Brooks, Tony Bennett, Chuck Berry, Jay Leno and Rich Little.
