Salsa band Rica Obsesion to perform in Marty's Sept. 11

Sept. 3, 2009

Rica Obsesion, an up and coming salsa band from Chicago, will perform Friday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 p.m. in Marty’s.

Tickets are $10 available at the door.

Rica Obsesion performs musical selections from salsa greats, including the Spanish Harlem Orquestra, the late Frankie Ruiz and Soneros Del Barrio, as well as their own compositions.

The group also performs “merengues” by Olga Tanon and Melina Leon, “cha cha cha” by the late Tito Puente and many Latin Jazz tunes.

Rica Obsesion was founded by brothers Byron Calito, congas/vocals, and Dennis Calito, timbales and musical director. Born in Guatemala and raised in Chicago, the Calito brothers have performed with well-know salsa artists, such as Eddie Santiago, Kevin Ceballo, Tony Vega and many more.

Rica Obsesion also consists of Harley Figueroa, saxophone and musical composer; Adrian Ruiz, piano; Jose Porcayo, bass-vocals; Micah Frazier, trumpet; Craig Sunken, trombone and Alex Torres, vocals.

Each time they perform, Rica Obsesion states “their ultimate goal is to show their love for music in their performance, see and feel the excitement of the audience on the dance floor.”
