Luther College's Beth Lynch Receives Iowa Science Foundation Grant

Luther associate professor of biology Beth Lynch, was awarded a $4,980 grant from the Iowa Science Foundation in August 2013. The grant is allowing her to document the occurrences of rare plant species and habitats in Iowa to better observe the impacts of ongoing environmental changes, including invasive plant species, deer herbivory and climate change on rare plant taxa and communities.

Vasquez participates in Lutheran Immigration Leadership Summit

David Vasquez, Luther College campus pastor, met with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., on April 1 to express the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for fair and compassionate immigration reform. Vasquez said that, as a person of faith, he recognizes that he is called to welcome the sojourner and walk alongside migrants and refugees as they rebuild their lives in the United States. This is the message he took to Capitol Hill for the Lutheran Immigration Leadership Summit, hosted April 1-2 by the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month at Luther College

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, one in four women and one in six men will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Luther College invites the Decorah community to join in participating throughout the month of April in Sexual Assault Awareness Month, an event that raises public awareness of sexual violence and educates communities on its prevention.
