Toys Go 'Round Toy Lending Library

Can you imagine a toy library that provides members with over 1000 toys to borrow? Toys Go 'Round is a 25-year-old local, non-profit institution that offers a large variety of fun and educational toys to families, teachers, grandparents, child care providers...and, of course, a lot of excited kids! TGR is seeking a librarian's assistant to work Thursdays, 4-7pm, with additional hours available based on schedule. Located on the Lower Level of the Decorah Public Library, you would be working in downtown Decorah! Duties include cataloging and maintaining the toy collection, as well as customer service work behind the toy librarian's desk.  Further questions, please email Sandhya Purohit Caton

 

The Humane Society of Northeast Iowa

The Humane Society of Northeast Iowa seeks a hard-working, dependable, animal-loving individual to help with morning dog and cat chores for a total of 6 hours a week, 2-3 mornings a week. Duties will include taking dogs to the yards, cleaning kennels, cleaning cat condos and other deep cleaning duties as assigned at the Love & Friendship Adoption Center located at 2345 Millennium Road, Decorah. Seed Savers 

Are you... nosey? Curious about what happens behind the scenes? Perhaps you like peaking into other peoples' medicine cabinets? Well, Seed Savers Exchange has a (work study) job for you! Help us uncover the stories behind the varieties in our collection of over 20,000 heirloom and historic garden crops. Work with our seed historians to research historic seed catalogs, dusty old books, hand written letters, and organizational documents as we track the stewardship of varieties in our collection. A background in history, museum studies, or English would be helpful, but not required. Must have reliable transportation for this off campus work study opportunity. Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum

Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum seeks two work study students to assist in Development and Membership 8 to 10 hours a week, Monday through  Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.  Primary duties are assisting Membership Manager with bulk mailings and filing and other duties as assigned. Must be detailed-oriented and have the ability to maintain confidentiality.  General office knowledge a plus. Applicants must be eligible for Federal Work Study. ArtHaus

ArtHaus is seeking students to work 8-10 hours per week between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with some possible weekend and evening hours. This position includes assisting with day-to-day administrative tasks such as database management, volunteer recruitment, fundraising, oversee management of the studio space, and help with hands-on youth art classes. ArtHaus

ArtHaus is seeking a student for Open Studio.  The student will work with the director to lead a Saturday morning story hour and free play, this is followed by Open Studio pay-pre-project guidance. Position will work on marketing the Story Hour, Open Studio, and TinkerHaus time throughout the week and be in charge of the overall look of the studio (cleaning and window display). Must be reliable, excellent communication skills, interest and ability to interact with ArtHaus users of all ages.A background in visual, performing, or literary arts is a plus but not required. Nisse Preschool

Nisse Preschool is looking for students to help with extended care Monday through Friday from 3:00-6:00p.m. Extended Care staff would be supervising, interacting, and serving snacks for children ranging from three to seven years of age. Applicants must have a genuine interest in working with young children, be friendly, possess a positive attitude, and be able to follow policies and regulations. Helping Services for Northeast Iowa

Helping Services is seeking student support for administration and program staff. Tasks include: computer work with data bases, operations of office machines, creative opportunities in program development and support, occasionally dealing with phone and door traffic. A student who is literate with Word programs, dependable, the ability to work in teams and have an open mind is preferred. Students must have the ability to arrange transportation to Helping Service's office. A student with office experience and an interest is social services field is helpful and there will be work with domestic violence, child abuse, and substance abuse prevention and mentoring in the work with program staff. The Oneota Film Festival

The Oneota Film Festival is seeking a student to support regular and special events hosted or organized by Oneota Film Festival from January 4th through the Festival March 4-6, 2016 with possible extension in the spring. A student with skills related to social media and marketing is desired. Duties include creating and distributing event information online and on campus as well as creating new OFF presence in Instagram, Vine, Periscope, and other social media. Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center

Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center is seeking a food security coordinator. Duties include organizing committees for next Empty Bowls Fundraiser; meeting with, recording, and reporting progress of all committees to NEIPJC supervisory staff; oversee solicitations of donations of soups and breads from local restaurants and bakers and communicate arrangements for delivery; oversee solicitations of bowls from local potters and assist at events that engage the public in making/glazing bowls; create lists of necessary volunteers and work with the Hotel Winneshiek event staff. Qualifications include the ability to engage with people and enjoy it, good organizing skills, be detail oriented, have clear verbal and written communication, maintain basic computer skills and have an interest in food systems. Position: Teacher Aide

Sunflower Child Development Center is looking for a teacher aide to assist the classroom teacher in implementing a developmentally appropriate program for young children. Sunflower needs help from 7-9 a.m. and 2:30-5:30 p.m. The teacher aide will supervise children in the classroom, communicate with parents and members of the community, will maintain program administration, and will perform other related duties as required. Winneshiek County Recycling

The Winneshiek County Recycling Department has several work study positions available. Basic daily job tasks include material sorting, maintaining production area organization, and frequent interaction with the general public. The facility is open from 6:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and we will consider running alternative hours to accommodate your class schedules. Several students carpooling together at one time outside of regular class time would work well. Students with Facebook, Twitter, and other electronic and written communication skills are encouraged to apply, too, as we have some opportunities for some of you to participate in the waste reduction education part of the program. This is ideal work experience for Environmental Science majors, but all majors are encouraged to apply. Additionally, students with exceptional computer skills may assist the County Recycling Center with coordinated tasks involving the Winneshiek County IT Dept. The Winneshiek County Recycling Center is located in the Freeport Industrial Park about a mile Northeast of Walmart.
