SPIN Theatre Company is an official student organization of Luther College advised by faculty member Lisa Lantz. Run by a board of upperclass students, it offers opportunities for students of all years, majors, and experience levels to explore their interests in areas of theatre including acting, set design, directing, stage management, lighting/sound, and more.
The organization was founded in 2004 and premiered with a production of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Recent SPIN productions include Aristophanes' Lysistrata, and Yamina Reza's God of Carnage. SPIN Theatre Company also has plans to produce a musical every other year, in order to give more performance opportunities to Luther students.
SPIN Theatre Company strives to be an innovative performance experience. The company frequently hosts festivals of scenes and one-acts, all directed, performed, and produced by Luther students. The organization recently created an incredibly successful haunted house for Halloween 2014, and plans to make it an annual tradition. The company is always interested in hearing new and creative ideas from students who want to be involved.
SPIN Theatre Company strives to make theatre available for everyone onstage, backstage, and in the audience.
