Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) currently seeks a full-time Economic Development Supervisor within our Refugee Community Services program in Polk county.


The Economic Development Supervisor manages the Global Greens, Child Care Business Development, and the Individual Development Account (IDA) programs within Refugee Community Services.

Supervisor is responsible for the administration of Economic Development programs to ensure newly arrived and former refugees in the Polk County area have access to culturally and linguistically appropriate training, technical assistance and necessary resources to foster business development and acquisition of assets.

Supervisor oversees program staff in connecting clients to land, training, business and asset development services as well as oversight of the Global Greens Farm and Food Hub.

The Economic Development Supervisor serves as a liaison with partnering organizations, ethnic communities and other community organizations. Hire and train program staff, ensure compliance with contracts and adjust programming to meet the needs of the changing refugee population. Supervisor will write and develop grant proposals in partnership with the Manager of Grant Writing. 



Required: Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in management of small business, micro-enterprise, or asset development programs.

Preferred: Master's degree and three-four years of experience in management of small business, micro-enterprise, or asset development programs especially related to farming, child care, and matched savings for immigrant populations. Preferred applicants will have experience in writing successful grant proposals.

This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
