Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) currently seeks a full-time Economic Development Supervisor within our Refugee Community Services program in Polk county.
The Economic Development Supervisor manages the Global Greens and the Individual Development Account (IDA) programs within Refugee Community Services.
The Global Greens program offers access to land, training, and business development services to newly-arrived and former refugees in Polk County, through the development and management of community gardens, the operation of a small farming business incubator training farm program, and a food hub.
The IDA program provides financial education, technical assistance and matching savings to participants who are saving towards the purchase of their first home, car, continuing their education or starting or expanding a business.
The Economic Development Supervisor serves as a liaison with partnering organizations, ethnic communities and other community organizations. Hire and train program staff, ensures compliance with contracts, and adjust programming to meet the needs of the changing refugee population. Supervisor will write and develop grant proposals in partnership with the Manager of Grant Writing.
Required: Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in management of small farm incubators or economic development programs.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree and three-four years of experience in management of small farm incubators, Food Hubs or economic development programs. Preferred applicants will have experience in grant writing.
This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
